What the incident record should contain
The water-damage incident record is a key initial document. It should preferably state the inspection date and time, address, members of the inspection commission, participants, suspected water source, rooms, damage and the owner's comments.
- the incident date and the date the record was prepared;
- address and rooms;
- who was present;
- the source or suspected cause;
- a description of the damage;
- photographic documentation or a reference to appendices;
- signatures and comments.
Do not sign a blank incident record. If you disagree, write your comments directly in the record or in a separate appendix.
